A philological study on poisoning and adverse reaction of Cicadae Periostracum(蟬세)

|
Cicadae Periostracum is in use in eastern medicine. The eastern medical doctors use Cicadae Periostracum for dispelling wind and heat from the body(疏散風熱) and relieving muscle spasm(鎭痙), etc. We investigated toxicity, poisoning symptoms, poisoning treatment and prevention against poisoning of Cicadae Periostracum. The results were summarized as follows: 1. The ingredients of poisoning from Cicadae Periostracum mainly cause stomachache, borborygmus, fullness of abdomen, etc and cause allergic reaction occasionally. 2. The representative methods of poisoning treatment are stopping prescription and symptomatic treatment, etc. 3. In order to prevent against poisoning of Cicadae Periostracum, the patients should keep usage, dosage and notes.
